When it comes to branding your clothing line or textile products, woven labels are an excellent way to showcase your brand identity. However, creating the perfect woven label can be challenging. With so many options and customization available, it can be challenging to determine which elements to include or exclude from your woven label. In this article, we’ll share some tips for making perfect woven labels that will help you showcase your brand identity effectively.

1. Understand the basics of woven labels

Woven labels are labels made using thread and loom that are sewn into clothing, textile products, and accessories. Our custom woven labels can be divided into 4 types: satin woven labels, damask woven labels, selvage woven labels, and reversed satin woven labels. There are three types of machines for making woven labels: broad loom, shuttle loom, and needle loom.

There are three types of looms that vary in their capabilities. The broadloom is the most versatile, as it can support up to 12 colors and produce a width of up to 110cm. In contrast, the shuttle loom can only handle up to 6 colors and is limited to a width of 1cm-5cm. The needle loom, on the other hand, can make up to 5 colors but is restricted to a narrower width of 0.6cm-3.5cm. These differences in loom capabilities can impact the final product’s design and quality.

3. Choose the right Placement

As part of the product design, the label will become a permanent label of the garment. So thinking ahead about where you want your custom label to be applied will influence your choice of label size and fold type. Woven labels are commonly used on the left and right cuffs, left and right hems, inside neck and outside neck of all types of t-shirts and hoodies; also on the left chest of button down t-shirts; inside the waistband, left and right cuff of pants; the front crown of hats, inside sweatband or outside sweatband; right or left end and center top of a duffle bag.

4. Pay attention to the folding

There is 6 folded way: end fold, loop fold, centerfold, Mitre fold, Manhattan fold, and die-cut no folding.

End fold– The way the end folds allows for a certain width of an extra seam on the left and right sides. This folding prevents the label from having any corners, which minimizes the label’s irritation to the skin.
